Hungarian Junior Open 2024 - everything you need to know

2024-10-08

The players and their parents/coaches received the most important information by email last week, we will summarize it here as well. Dear Juniors, read the following carefully and click on the built-in links for more content.

The 8 age groups will play at two locations between October 11-13:

City Squash Club (CSC) — Facebook — 1022 Budapest Marczibányi tér 13. google maps

Rózsadomb Squash Club (RSC)Facebook — 1025 Budapest, Törökvész út 87. goggle maps

One age group will be at the same venue one day, that is, if your first match is e.g. is listed in the CSC, then your second match will be there as well. At least 3 matches are guaranteed for each player, but more than this is not a requirement according to the ESF (European Squash Federation) regulations, so you may have 3, but you may also have 5 matches during the 3 days. The number of your matches per day will also be between 0-3 based on the ESF, so it is possible that you have 2-2 matches on Friday and Saturday, but you will not play on Sunday.

Friday's fixtures: GU17, BU17, GU19, BU19 at the RSC. GU13, BU13, GU15, BU15 in CSC.

Do NOT watch Saturdays and Sundays yet, for now the program has made a plan by itself. István will clarify as we move forward in the week. On Saturday, the venue will be reversed, i.e. GU17, BU17, GU19, BU19 in CSC; GU13, BU13, GU15, BU15 in RSC.

IMPORTANT! Nearly 90 children are coming from abroad, who indicated when they registered when they could play for the first time on Friday. This can cause such inconvenience that either too much or too little time passes between your two matches, if you have not marked a restriction. Thank you for your understanding, we try to handle every situation flexibly, so let us know if you have any questions.

The results and the schedule are constantly updated by the chief judge of the event, István Fodor, on the Tournamentsoftware interface. Fortunately, many people entered the field, thank you for your patience, if the update is not immediate, managing 8-9 results continuously on the interface is not enough, while you are already looking for a place for the next matches, even for the same day or the next day.

On-site schedule:

RSC: Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m

CSC: Friday 9 am to 8 pm, Saturday 9 am to 8 pm, Sunday 9 am to 2 pm

Award ceremony: CSC Sunday 2:00 p.m., immediately after the final, at which time the special award / Fair Play award will be presented, which is awarded for the outstanding fair play behavior shown during the three days.

Please be at the venue at least 45 minutes before the time of your scheduled match, on the one hand, so that time does not pass by warming up on the field, since when you enter the field, you only have a few minutes left to kick in, on the other hand, you may miss a match ahead of you, or faster is progressing.

All registered and playing players will receive a welcome pack (Welcome Pack), which you can pick up at the City Squash Club from Friday morning to Sunday.

Those who requested a meal can also eat it at the City Squash Club. The five-course meal includes lunch and dinner on Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and lunch on Sunday. Lunch is served between 12-3pm and dinner between 5-8pm. If you requested a meal, but your last match lasts until 8 p.m., you can of course have dinner afterwards. If you have matches at the RSC on a given day, the meal is still at the CSC - the two clubs are 5 minutes by car from each other, and a couple of stops by public transport on the 11 bus.

A shuttle, i.e. a transfer, between the two clubs is available to those who have indicated and paid for their need at the time of entry.

Medical staff/doctors will be at both locations, feel free to contact them in case of complaints.

Refereeing is mandatory for all players, not just the winner/loser. Both players playing on a given field lead the next match on that field, even if a different age group/group takes the field. There will be several MF(S)Sz referees or coaches experienced in refereeing at both locations, they will officiate more difficult matches upon special request. Matches are managed on a sheet, which must then be submitted to the local referee. If you keep track of the results by phone, you must also hand in the score sheet by at least writing down the points and sets and naming the winner. If at least one player is a foreigner, the matches should be conducted in English.

Local head referees: István Fodor at City Squash Club on all three days. Zsuzsa Kékesi in the Rózsadomb Center on Friday, István Horváth on Saturday, there is no match in the RSC on Sunday.

Follow the HJO Facebook event, our two photographers, Kati Termel and Ricsi Kirner, will visit both locations, and put the photos they took in THIS ALBUM.

Live stream of specific courts is available on the YouTube channel of the City Squash Club and the YouTube channel of the RSC.

In case of emergency, you can reach Lénárd Püski, who is Tournament Director of the event: +36208064228

Good luck everyone!
